Recent Developments in Fractals and Related Fields

In the 14th SI Edition, new co-author Christopher Heil (Georgia Institute of Technology) partners with author Joel Hass to preserve what is best about Thomas’ time-tested text while reconsidering every word and every piece of art with today’s students in mind. The result is a text that goes beyond memorizing formulas and routine procedures to help students generalize key concepts and develop deeper understanding.

The authors discuss topics such as elasticity, thermo-elasticity, aero-elasticity, interactions between fluids and elastic structures, and fluid dynamics and the new challenges that they present. Other control theoretic problems include parabolic systems, dynamical Lame systems, linear and nonlinear hyperbolic equations, and pseudo-differential operators on a manifold. This is a valuable tool authored by international specialists in the field.

The 42 revised full papers presented together with six invited survey papers were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 86 submissions. The papers are organized in sections on codes and iterative decoding, arithmetic, graphs and matrices, block codes, rings and fields, decoding methods, code construction, algebraic curves, cryptography, codes and decoding, convolutional codes, designs, decoding of block codes, modulation and codes, Gröbner bases and AG codes, and polynomials.
